I. Objective

1. Educational aim: Students should know what a farmer’s day of work is and sympathize with farmers’ work everyday

2 Knowledge

- General knowledge: Students know about activities on a day in the life of farmers

- Words about daily activities: working time, working day, timetables of children and adults

3. Skill

- Developing such reading skills as scanning for specific information, and passage comprehension

- Use the information they have read to dicuss farmer’s daily work

II. Methods : Integrated, mainly communicative.

III. Teaching aids: textbook, handouts, pictures

IV. Procedure

1. Class organization

- Greeting and checking students’ attendance

2. Review the previous lesson

- Call on Ss to check their previous lesson

Lesson 1: Reading
I. Objective
1. Educational aim: Students should know what a farmer’s day of work is and sympathize with farmers’ work everyday
2 Knowledge
- General knowledge: Students know about activities on a day in the life of farmers
- Words about daily activities: working time, working day, timetables of children and adults
3. Skill
- Developing such reading skills as scanning for specific information, and passage comprehension
- Use the information they have read to dicuss farmer’s daily work

IV. Procedure 
1. Class organization
- Greeting and checking students’ attendance
2. Review the previous lesson
- Call on Ss to check their previous lesson

I. Warm-up:
- Show some tools and ask Ss to guess who use them very often in their job.
- Let SS understand more about the life of a farmer
- Sum up and lead in

II.Pre- reading
Activity 1: Discussion
- Ask SS to use the suggestion in their books to work in pairs
- Listen to SS and correct pronunciation and grammar if necessary
- T gathers the ideas and helps Ss to give correct answers.
Activity2 : Vocabulary
- Provide Ss with some new words, phrases
- plough        (v)   : turn up the soil ( caøy)
- harrow       (v)     : break the soil ( böøa)
- transplant (v) : grow rice ( cấy)
- take a rest  (v)             : nghæ ngôi
- fellow peasants(n) : farmers working in the same field ( đồng nghiệp, cùng là nông dân )
- plot of land: mảnh ruộng
- Read each word/ phrase 3 times and ask Ss to repeat it
- Listen and help Ss to read the words/ phrases correctly
III. While – reading
Task 1 :
- Ask Ss to read the passages individually and choose the option A, B, C that best suits the meaning of the italicised words –
- Advise Ss to read the passage quickly and stop at the lines that contain the words to guess the closest meaning
- Go around the class and provide help if necessary
- Call on some SS to read aloud their answers
- Give correct answers

Task 2:
- Ask Ss to read the requirement of task 2
- Instruct Ss some strategies to do :
+ skim the questions to understand them
+ underline the key words
+ decide what information they need to find in the text
- Ask Ss do the task, then discuss their answers with a friend
- Call on some Ss to present and say where they look for their answers( other Ss listen to and give comment)
- Give feedback and correct answers

1. He’s a peasant
2. He gets up at 4: 30 and then goes down the kitchen to boil some water for his morning tea.
3. In the morning, he ploughs and harrows his plot of land, drinks tea and smokes tobacco during his break
4. In the afternoon, they repair the banks of their plot of land. Mr. Vy pumps water into it and his wife dose the transplanting
5. Yes, they are. Because they love working and they love their children.
IV.Post- reading
- Ask Ss to close their books
- Ask them to talk about Mr Vy and Mrs Tuyet’s daily routines or their parents’ daily routines
- Listen to Ss and correct mistakes
V. Homework
- Ask students to write a passage about a farmer’s daily routines (80 words)
- Ask students to prepare Part 2: Speaking at home
- Listen to the teacher
- Look at the blackboard and answer
- Listen to T
- Look at the book
- Listen to T and work in pairs
- Present the answers (other Ss listen, add, correct)
- Listen and repeat
- Copy down these new words into their notebooks
- Listen to T
- Ask the teacher if necessary
- Work individual or in group
- Present the answers
- Write down in the notebook
- Read the requirement
- Listen to T’ s instruction
- Do the task , then discuss answers with friends
- Report their answers to class and explain
