I. OBJECTIVES

1. Knowledge : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

- Know more words and structures relating to music.

- Learn more specific information about music : kinds of music, reasons for listening to music, favourite bands / musicians, favourite songs / pieces of music, time to listen to music.

2. Skill: After the lesson, students will be able to:

- Use words and structures relating to music to ask and answer about other’s taste of music.

- Talk about their own and other’s taste of music.

- Improve other skills: speaking, listening and reading.

3. Attitude:

- Students work effectively and enthusiastically in the classroom activities.

- Students develop concern and interest in music.

UNIT 12: MUSIC
Period 82: Lesson B: SPEAKING
I. OBJECTIVES
1. Knowledge : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Know more words and structures relating to music.
- Learn more specific information about music : kinds of music, reasons for listening to music, favourite bands / musicians, favourite songs / pieces of music, time to listen to music.
2. Skill: After the lesson, students will be able to:
- Use words and structures relating to music to ask and answer about other’s taste of music.
- Talk about their own and other’s taste of music.
- Improve other skills: speaking, listening and reading.
3. Attitude: 
- Students work effectively and enthusiastically in the classroom activities.
- Students develop concern and interest in music.
II. TEACHING AIDS: textbook, hand out, black board, projector, computer.
III. TEACHING METHODS: individual work, pair work, group work, discussion, presentation, etc.
IV. ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: Students may get difficulty in finding words relating to music and expressing their own taste of music.

- Invite Ss to join a simple activity: Guess the kinds of music.
- Play a video of 5 pieces of music.
- Ask Ss to guess what kinds of music are.

3. Speak sofly love (saxophone) – Trần Mạnh Tuấn.
4. Một khúc tâm tình của người Hà Tĩnh –Thu Hiền.
5. Đường đến ngày vinh quang –Bức tường.

Watch and listen to the video carefully and give the correct answers
Suggested answers:

Pre – speaking

-Give Ss a list consisting of 4 titles: music characteristics, reasons for listening to music, favourite bands / songs and ways of listening to music.
-Ask Ss to work in 4 groups , group 1 finds the music characteristics , group 2 finds the reasons for listening to music, group 3 finds favourite bands / songs and group 4 finds ways of listening to music.
-Give each group a piece of paper to stick the answer.
-Ask Ss to note that each title will have 6 words.
-Ask each group to send a representative who will go to the board and stick the answer.
-Ask Ss to look at the screen and check.
Possible answers :
* Music characteristics : 
- exciting - lyrical
- peaceful - gentle
- relaxing - easy to listen
* Reasons for listening to music :
- make sb positive - make sb excited
- make sb relaxed - cheer sb up
- keep sb happy - help sb relax
* Favourite bands / songs :

* Ways of listening to music :
- on the TV - on cell – phone

Task 1 : Read and answer
-Ask Ss to work in pairs, read the passage and answer the questions.
Possible answers:
1 .She likes pop music.
2 .Because it keeps her happy.
3 .Backstreet Boys.
4 .She listens to them all the time.
Task 2 : Complete the table
-Ask Ss to look at the screen and find the correct questions which are suitable to the given information.

Task 3 : Report
-Assign the task : Some students will report what they have found about their friends in task 2.
-Instruct Ss to look at the sample :

+ B and C ‘s favourite song is... 
-Ask the representatives of some groups to stick the table they have completed in task 2 on the board and report about their friends’ taste of music.
-Ask Ss to report about their own taste of music .

4. Consolidation (1min)
- Ask Ss to tell what they have learned about music: kinds of music, reasons for listening to music, favourite band/musician/song/piece of music, time to listen to music.
