- Greets the students.

1. Lead in: (5’)
* Mini game:
- Divides the class into 2 groups: Group A and Group B.
- Tell students the rule of the game: “ I will speak aloud the name of some football teams. You have to find out the picture of these teams quickly and paste on the board. The group which has more correct answer will be the winner.”
- Lets students play the game.
- Congratulates the winner.
- Leads to the new lesson.
2. Pre- speaking: (12’)
- Introduces some new words:
+ defeat (v) đánh bại
+ quarter final (phr) tứ kết
+ semi final (phr) bán kết
+ final (n) chung kết
+ draw (v) hòa
+ penalty shootout (phr) đá phạt 11m
- Reads aloud these new words then asks students to repeat.
- Asks some students to read aloud these new words again.
* Taks 1: What do you know about these football teams? (6’ )
- Asks students to look at the pictures in their textbooks and discuss which nations the these football teams belong to.
- Asks some students to give the answers.
- Asks students some questions:
+ Who was the captain of the France national football team in World Cup 2006?
+ Which nation was the top scorer in World Cup 2006?
+ Who was the captain of the English national football team in World Cup 2006?
+ What is the typical color of Italy’s national football team?
- Asks students to work in pairs to answer these questions.
- Asks some students to tell the answers.
- Listens and give remarks.
3. While-speaking: (20’)
* Task 2: Look at the table below. Ask and answer questions. (10’)
- Helps students to do make the sample dilogue.
- Asks students to work in pairs and do the task basing on the sample dialogue.
- Goes around to help students.
- Asks some pairs to present their conversations.
- Gives feedbacks.
Task 3: Take turns to talk about the World Cup winners, using the information in the table in Task 2. (10’)
- Asks students to base on the example and do the task.
- Goes around to help if necessary.

4. Post- speaking: Talk about the football team you like best.(6’)
- Asks one student to present.
- Gives feedbacks.
- Asks students to learn new words by heart.
