- General knowledge: By the end of the lesson, students remember the
usage and structure of conditional sentence type 2 and 3 and they can do
the exercise correctly.
- Language: Students practice doing exercises of conditional sentences
type 2 and 3

The new lesson CONTENTS STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES -Greet students. WARM-UP (5-7 mins) -Ask students some common questions. “How do you feel today?” “How are you?” -Let class play a small game: “Matching” Match each statement on the left column with another one on the right to make complete sentences. -Hang poster on the board. -Greet teacher. -Answer the teacher’s questions. -Join in the activity. Poster: 1/If you visit my house, 2/If I were rich, 3/If she tidies up the bathroom, 4/My family would go to Nha Trang beach 5/Our team would have had the gold cup. a. I will clean the kitchen. b. If I had some days off. c. my life would change completely. d. If we had won the match, e. I will show you my pictures. -Call students go to the board and match. -Check students’ answers and give feedback. -Give students stars if they have right answers. -Lead in the lesson. -Ask students” How many conditional sentences have you learnt?” -Say” Ok. So until now, we’ve learnt 3 types of conditional sentences and today we will review 2 types of them. The lesson today will focus on conditional sentences type 2 and 3.” GRAMMAR (30 mins) -Ask students to study conditional sentence type 1 at home. -Lead to the conditional type 2. -Ask students to find out the conditional sentences type 2 on the poster. -Ask students to retell the usage and give structure. Usage: Conditional Sentences Type 2 refers to an action in the present that could happen if the present situation were different. I don't really expect the situation to change because it is very unlikely. Answer: 1-e 4-b 2-c 5-d 3-a -Write answers on the board. -Answer the teacher’s question. -Find out the sentences. -Give structure to teacher Structure: If clause Main clause If+ S + P1/ Ved (not), S+ would/could(not) + V-inf -Let students some minutes to write structure on their notebook. -Ask students to make an example of conditional sentence type 2. -Give students 2 If clauses. 1/If I were a boy, .. 2/If I were a girl, .. -Ask students to work in pair and complete the sentences. The girls will do the first If clause and the boys will do the second one. -Ask students to write their answers on the board. -Check students’ answers and give feedback. -Give students stars for good answers. -Let students play a game to practice. Game: “O-X” - Divide students into 2 groups. One group is “O” and another one is “X”. -Hang prepared poster on the board. (A poster with a table of 9 squares. If they have a right sentence (both meaning and structure), they will get one “O” or “X”. -The group which has 3 “O” or 3 “X” on a horizontal line, vertical or cross first will be the winner. -Ask students to clap to congratulate the winner. -Write structure on their notebook. -Do as teacher’s requirement. -All students join in the activity. -Write answers on the board. -Listen to the teacher. -Join the game and work in group effectively. -Lead to the conditional sentence type 3. -Ask students find out the conditional sentences type 3 on poster. -Ask students to retell the usage and structure of conditional type 3. Usage: Conditional sentence type 3 is a sentence without real condition in the past. Conditions could not happen in the past, indicate the desire of the past, oppose to a hypothetical situation in the past. Structure: If clause Main clause If+ S + had + P2/ Ved , S + would/ could(not)+ have + P2/ Ved -Ask another student to give an example of conditional sentence type 3. -Check student’s sentence and give feedback. -Let students copy the structure. -Give students handout and ask them to do exercise 1. Exercise 1: Complete the Conditional Sentences with the correct form of the verbs. 1/ He would have repaired the car himself if he (have)the tools. 2/ If I hadn't studied, I (not pass)the exam. 3/ I wouldn’t have gone to school by bus if I (have)..a driving lience. 4/ She (love)..me if I had been rich. 5/ My dog wouldn’t have bitten you if you (not run) -Call some students go to the board and write their answers. -Check students’ answers and give feedback. -Give them stars with correct answers. -Do as teacher’s requirement. -Retell the usage and structure of conditional sentence type 3. -Give an example. -Write structure. -Do exercise 1 in handout Answer: 1/Had had 2/wouldn’t have passed 3/had had 4/would have loved 5/had not run Game: If story +Divide class into 4 groups. +Give a sentence and a poster to each group and ask them to write 2 more conditional sentences type 3 beginning with the teacher's sentence. For example, Teacher can write "If the game had been good, I would have played it". The student's sentence may be "If I had played it, I would have ignored my study". And students continue with “If I had ignored my study, I would have” - Ask each group to present their results in front of class. - Check and give feedback. At the end of the lesson, through activities and exercises, the student who have more stars will get mark. -All students join in the game. -Listen to the teacher. 4. Consolidation: Students should do more exercises on workbook. 5. Homework (5-7mins) -Summary the content of the lesson. -Give students some exercises to do at home (handout). -Ask them to have a look at handout and ask them whether or not they have any queries. -Remind students to prepare carefully for the test.
